I’m a software engineer with fifteen-plus years across web, cloud, security, mobile and product. Working in that many fields means I carry ideas from one into another, and it has let me take unusual problems from concept all the way to a running business.
I build for the person in front of me. The problems people bring me are rarely unique to them, so a tool that solves one person’s problem well usually scales to many more.
Most of my hours right now go to Harmony Pulse, an iPhone and Apple Watch app that coaches horse riders from two heart-rate straps, one on the rider and one on the horse. It’s in testing with my mom and her two horses. Alongside it, Widda is waiting on Google’s review and CodeTurtle is getting fixes from its first real run. My Now page keeps the current state of all of it, along with what I’m reading, playing and learning.
How I work
Esoteric knowledge never equates to action.
Research ends where building starts. A working prototype answers more questions than another week of reading.
Difficulty is not an excuse for inaction.
The hard, ambiguous problems are where a background across many fields pays off.
Don't force fruit in a season meant for roots.
Infrastructure, tests and documentation get the time they need before I chase results.
Better to believe in growth than circumstance.
Every project leaves me with skills the next one needs, whatever the outcome.
